How has the world taught you to love(video)

How has the world taught you to love.

In this video, David talks about how we teach our children to love their partners in a relationship.

He takes on the fact that we often model bad behaviors and instill unrealistic expectations and self-destructive patterns that have lasting effects on our romantic lives.

Transcript:

How have you been taught to love?

I want to ask for a minute, what have you really been taught throughout your life about love?

I look at society, at TV, at movies, what I’ve seen as a kid growing up.

I learned that husbands and fathers are all useless and stupid besides what they can provide financially from their job.

I look at podcast and the biggest video channels of today and I learned that women are all hoes and useless and no longer wife material.

I look at my own parents’ relationship and I learned how to put up with somebody you don’t love and can barely stand to be with until the kids are old enough to minimize the damage when you finally get the backbone to divorce each other.

And I think as a society, for a lot of us, those are the things we learn about love.

Then we wonder why we repeat those same cycles and are unable to find something that truly fills us up.

I think we need more than that.

That’s why I’m here, that’s why I want to make these videos because you deserve to see that there actually is a way to have a good relationship out there.

There actually is a way to have a loving and respectful marriage, and there is a way to forgo all the crap that our society has said about relationships good or bad, and all that crap that leads to the 50-60% divorce rates and the infidelity rates, and all the other crap.

The marriages where husband and wife can barely stand to be with each other.

I think it’s time we start talking about the things that actually matter, the things that build up a relationship.

The things that turn a relationship into a successful marriage.

I think it’s time ladies, stop jumping from man to man hoping for Mr. Right to fall into their lap, and the guys to stop running through women thinking ‘they’re all hoes.’

And actually start acting how we acted for the last 50,000 years to build up stable, loving family units in which we take care of each other, in which we each support each other, in which we each have a mutual commitment and love.

And put in effort to build up this life into something better than either one of us can build on our own.

So come with me, I think it’s time we start digging deep into the reality of what we’ve been taught about love
